  1. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

What a great experience. Thank you for sharing an adventure with us. I will definitely be back for more secret passages and a great atmosphere.

  2. Tour Guest — Secret Door & Sugar Tour

It was so much fun. We definetly want to come back and keep finding more doors than we found this time. Everyone was really friendly and I would love to bring others with us!

  3. Sara Brown — Self-Guided Tour

    interesting concept…
I think a map with all the secret doors marked would be a great addition to the self-guided tour. I’m not even sure how much of the museum we never saw as we never knew what the layout was.
Also, if there was an option for an audio guided tour, I missed that.

    — April 9, 2012
  4. Karen Carrabba — Happy Hour"s"

We went to the Monday Happy Hour for our anniversary. What a memorable experience! The staff at the O were attentive and helpful yet unobtrusive . The hostess took pictures of us and even picked out several unique handcrafted hats for me to pose in! We plan on going back to search for more secret doors when family comes to visit next week and we are looking into spending a night in one the theme rooms.

    — April 9, 2012
  5. Michelle Birkenstock — Champagne Tour

I could only find 5 secret doors, and two were given to us by the mansion…for the rest of the day, I have been thinking all doors, bookshelves and walls might lead to a secret room. I’m obsessed with find the doors, and am definitely coming back to try and find some more!

Love the entire house, and all the kitchy stuff. Now I want to experience everything, brunch, tea, and even sleeping over!

Can’t believe I grew up in the NOVA area and never heard of the O Mansion! Will definitely bring friends and family and come back to visit!

    — April 9, 2012
  6. Tour Guest — Self-Guided Tour

I went with my daughter and we had a great time. We only found 5 doors and can not wait to come back. The young lady that treated us yesterday was very helpful and nice. Today, I told about ten other mom’s about the mansion. We have already planned our next visit. What a wonderful treasure!!!

I am originally from Iran but i have lived most of my life in the US. I am a professional in the IT field and a musician/song writer. I am about to start a new career in Film Production and currently enrolled at Boston University School of film. I support, encourage and nurture unique and creative expressions in performing and visual arts including motion picture landscape. I believe in the power of these mediums to change and enrich lives on both sides of the fence, the creator and the recipient.

  8. Illusions Guest — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

You feel like Alice in Wonderland and never know what surprise is around the corner with all the nooks, crannies and hidden doors to explore the treasures displayed throughout the mansion. Must check out the ‘hidden’ wine cellar.

    — April 9, 2012
  9. Doug Dahle

The totally unique environment of amazing array of collectibles that provides a chance to see items of historic and just interesting value. The variety of bedrooms with varying themes is a great use of older downtown residence space. The office space is highly beneficial and the informal kitchen for guests is welcoming and nice place to meet new people. The Mansion has a great vibe, very inviting and outstanding hosts Ted and H. I would strongly encourage anyone to consider lodging at the Mansion. Also, as I travel to DC often, the Mansion will be the place to stay if space available. Look forward to trying any of the available rooms.

THE PLACE TO STAY AND ENJOY IN DC.

  10. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

    Mind blowing!

  12. Leo Platvoet — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

I liked it very much, the intimate concert of Jesse Winchester was wonderful, and your mansion is amazing. Sadly enough I was only one week in Washington, but next time I will sure take a look at your website to see if any events meet my wishes, and of course I noted that you are also a hotel.

    — March 29, 2012
  13. Jeff Taos — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

Food was delicious. Mocha cake was heavenly.

    — March 29, 2012
  14. Concert Guest — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

We had a great evening at the Mansion with good food, music and exploring.

    — March 29, 2012
  15. Tracey Madigan — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

Jesse Winchester was mesmerizing, his voice was fabulous.

Another thing to add to the things I love about O Street Mansion: everyone there is so incredibly respectful of the performer. You can feel the admiration oozing from the crowd. The sound is flawless, because everyone is so quiet, you might as well be the only one in the room.

It was great to see Jesse back in action after his recent illness. He churned out a great product, and hasn’t lost his touch. He should be proud: his energy, charm and talent are alive and well!

    — March 29, 2012
  16. Concert Guest — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

Jesse Winchester was terrific and the O Street Museum is a fascinating, very unique place. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will eagerly look for opportunities to attend concerts and other events there in the future. Thanks.

    — March 29, 2012
  17. Concert Guest — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

As a first-time visitor, I was very impressed with the whole experience–cordial and efficient staff, a fun house to explore, and a great venue for acoustic music. Thanks!

    — March 29, 2012
  18. Concert Guest — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

Jesse Winchester was awesome! Thank you so much for having him (and us)!!!

    — March 29, 2012
  19. William Roach — Jesse Winchester SRO Concert

The 4 of us had the best time last night. Being fans of Jesse Winchester, we knew the show would be stunning. However we thought the Mansion was amazing .

We will be back to see another show, spend the night, have dinner, or just to visit.

    Thank you,

    — March 29, 2012
  20. Ester Turner — Self-Guided Champagne Tour

What an interesting tour! This mansion is so eclectic and fun with twists and turns. They have no shame in selling everything that you see in a room. While it was fun to venture on our own, it would have been nice if someone was taking you on a tour…at least to lead you to a central location on each floor, let you explore on your own and then regroup for questions & more of a history of that part of the house. A must see place in DC.

    — March 27, 2012
  21. Donald McGrath — Italian Stallion Brunch

Your hospitality from arrival to departure was just fabulous! The Mansion, rooms, staff, furnishings, and much more were just excellent. Thank you for the wonderful visit.

    — March 25, 2012
  22. Tour Guest — Self-Guided Tour

We did the self-guided tour and loved this crazy, quirky house! We were thrilled to have found 12 on our hour-plus wanderings. It was perfect for our mixed-age group of pre-teens, teens and adults – so much to see! For long-time DC residents, it’s amazing we never knew about it, but we’ll be telling everyone to come visit now!

    — March 25, 2012
  23. Lauren Armstrong — Champagne Tour

We really enjoyed wandering through the various rooms, searching for the secret doors and experiencing the different aspects of the Mansion. The staff members we met couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant. Thanks for a really wonderful afternoon!

    — March 19, 2012
  24. Lara Shainis — Champagne Tour

Loved everything about the mansion. Each room was so different and spectacular. It was a real treat. Glad I took the took. The champagne was a great touch.

  25. Janet Rodriguez — Secret Door & Sugar Tour

My middle school son and I are going through a stage where it is difficult for us to find things to do together that we both truly enjoy. We both had an absolute blast exploring your beautiful mansion and delighting in all the treasures and secret doors! Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon. We will be back and hopefully spend the night!

  26. Desiree Adkins — Kiss Me I'm Irish St. Paddy's Day Party

The O Mansion is such a clever and interesting experience. My guest and I thoroughly enjoyed traversing the mansion, through over 100 rooms and several hidden doors. Those were the most fun to find! I will definitely be visiting The O Mansion again!

    — March 17, 2012

    — March 17, 2012
  29. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

We had a great time. My boyfriend and I are very competitive people so it became a personal challenge to find the hidden doors. Not that it matters, but I found 7! He claims he found one of those 7 first…. :)

Overall, we had a great time just exploring and letting our inner kid come out.

    — March 15, 2012
  30. Katie Kiraly — Champagne Tour

My boyfriend and I came for his 21st birthday, and we had a fantastic time! We found 5 (count ‘em, FIVE!) secret doors and were very proud of ourselves. We hope someday to come back as hotel guests!

  32. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

This mansion is truly a mysterious place to visit.
The hidden doors were a fun feature but even more
impressive was the variety of accommadations available.
Your unique decore and the incredible baths are inspirational.
I am ready to renovate my bathrooms at home.
I am also very impressed with how DUST FREE and clean
everything in the mansion is…NO EASY TASK to maintain
the hundreds of tiny items and chandliers with such loving care.

    — March 12, 2012
  33. Nuyiri Kasbarian — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

Of all the activities and events that my friends and I have attended. WE LOVED the Illusions show at the mansion on the O, THE BEST! Not only was the show FABULOUS, but the mansion itself was so much fun. You are free to roam and explore all of the rooms and everything is for sale. You can play and dress up in the props as you please and there are secret passages and doorways. Above all, the staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful and the food is DELICIOUS. THANK YOU for a WONDERFUL time.

    — March 12, 2012
  34. Lynn Tolbert — Secret Door & Sugar Tour

It was Wonderful! I purchased tickets as an afternoon adventure for my mother and my son. They fell in love with the eclectic style of the mansion. They had fun exploring and looking at all the rooms available.

I am going to join them next time!

  38. Pixie Windsot — Soul Food Brunch

wow! what an exciting find in the middle of conservative old washington! the dining room and the entire mansion is a total visual delight and the brunch buffet is fantastic, expansive and quirky, (mac and cheese! grilled pb sandwiches!) and the staff was very helpful in spite of being very busy. i think it a must see for everyone who lives or visits dc. the mansion itself was huge and packed to the gills with lots to see!

    — March 11, 2012
  39. Larry Frum — Soul Food Brunch

I was disappointed that I couldn’t find all the secret doors! :) I will have to come back and search some more.

    — March 11, 2012
  40. Rob McCarthy — Champagne Tour

I had a great time exploring all of the areas of the mansion. I’m definitely going to have to go back because I was only able to find 5 secret doors so I obviously have a lot more to see. The mansion is awesome and is a ton of fun for all ages.

    — March 11, 2012

It was fun. the rooms were interesting to see.

    — March 11, 2012
  42. Brittani Berry — Secret Door & Sugar Tour

I had a wonderful visit to the O Mansion during the Sugar Tour. This tour was self-guided which allowed us to visit rooms multiple times in search of new doors. It’s a fun house for adults! And children too! ;-) I will definitely be visiting again in the near future. Thank you!

    — March 10, 2012
  43. Kierstin Clay — Secret Door & Sugar Tour

My spouse and I had a marvelous time. Everything was reasonably prices and the adventure of finding doors was well worth the price of admission. The staff was friendly, the food was great, and the rooms were eccentric and fun.

    — March 10, 2012
  44. Alex

I wanted to write to thank you once again for the wonderful job you and everyone else at the Mansion did in preparing for my engagement this past weekend. It really was spectacular and could not have occurred as smoothly without your hard work and attention to detail!

We had a wonderful afternoon and will return with our daughter when she visits from out of town! I also ended up with my 80th cocktail shaker and I LOVE it! We found it in the John Lennon room-you just never know what you’re going to find when you peek around! Thanks for a fun time!

    — March 5, 2012
  50. Tour Guest — Self-Guided Tour

I flew in for the weekend to visit my daughter in DC and she recommended that we visit the Museum. My daughter and I had a fabulous time and plan on visiting again when I am back in town. Loads of fun and cannot wait to take the scavenger hunt next visit.

    — March 5, 2012
  51. Kevin Fagan — Sunday Breakfast

Yet again, a Mansion visit wowed my ‘first time’ guests and me, a multi-visit veteran. I get as much joy and pleasure from seeing the looks on people’s faces as I get from discovering completely “new” rooms, and discovering another secret passage (I’m still far from uncovering ALL of them!).

As always, the food is delicious, the selection is broad and the mix of people you bump into touring around is fascinating. Being the first of the month, I was impressed by the sizable congregation of musicians who showed up yesterday (3/4/2012) and everyone appeared to enjoy them.

One of my guests went crazy after seeing all the desserts and ended up tasting quite a few, declared them the best desserts ever offered (particularly at a buffet setting) and rattled off a list of friends that would need to be introduced to The Mansion.

I always tell friends that The Mansion is a great ‘secret’ to share with out-of-town visitors (locals as well) because, although the furnishings are always amazing, fun and changing, it’s the ‘spirit’ of the house that never changes and is always exciting and “H” and Ted are the ultimate hosts.

My only regret was that certain design ‘miracles’ that I had hoped to share with my guests were unavailable due to the occupancy of B&B guests. Oh well, it just means another visit!

    — March 4, 2012
  52. Jeffrey Litton — Sunday Brunch

Awesome experience at The Mansion! It was our mothers 86th Birthday Brunch and we couldn’t have picked a better place! The food was superb. Of course every square inch of the place is covered with interesting things to look at and to buy so we spent several hours going through the place. When we took items to the front to pay for them we found out that on your birthday you get a dollar credit for every year you’ve kept your body alive. My Mom took the 86 dollar credit and was delighted to walk out with a beautiful vase and salt and pepper shaker set! What fun to discover the hidden passages and secret doorways!

    — March 4, 2012
  53. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

Great. We’ll come back for brunch.

    — March 4, 2012
  54. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

    — March 4, 2012
  55. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

Most unique collection of collectables, I’ve ever seen. Exploring the mansion,
is an experience I will always remember. Make sure you have a number of hours to go through the mansion.

    — March 3, 2012
  56. Shirley Millican — Sunday Brunch

Could spend 20 years here and still not see everything. Wonderful! Pure sensory overload!

    — March 1, 2012
  57. Gina Ellison — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

Firstly, I’d like to thank the reservations staff who helped my friend and I get seats to the show on Monday the 27th. I’d bought the groupon deal and misunderstood the booking rules. I really appreciate that the staff was able to find us seats even though the Illusions show was booked as of Friday the 24th.

Secondly, I’ve only moved up to DC and been living here for the past six months and I’m constantly finding that there are gem attractions all over the city– Mansion on O is definitely one of them! The staff is amazing, the entertainers were a blast; and the decorations, rooms and architecture were stunning! I definitely did not spend enough time exploring the building before the show and I plan on returning and bringing more friends!

Thanks for an amazing and memorable experience!

    — February 27, 2012
  58. Lisa Roberts — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

Everything was great, and everyone enjoyed exploring the Mansion, especially the “first-timers.” The Drag Show is fantastic, it’s a wonderful addition to the Monday night dinners…I kept thinking, it’s a Monday night and I’m sitting in this amazing setting handing bills to Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand while they strut and sing, it was great! Of course, I will be back and look forward to it…thank you!

    — February 27, 2012
  59. Illusions Guest — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

This was such a fun place- I can’t wait to go back! I already convinced 8 coworkers to check it out.

    — February 27, 2012
  60. Teresa Wood — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

The atmosphere on Monday evening (2/27) was spectacular. Dinner was great, the show was great and I will be back. Felt like home when I walked through the foyer. Thanks for a special evening.

    — February 27, 2012
  61. Illusions Guest — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

We had a great time! Excellent performance, ladies!

    — February 27, 2012
  62. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

The mansion is really cool and definitely a unique place to visit in DC. There’s a lot of fun kitschy things (like hats and guitars) throughout the place that make for cute props in photos. It was also fun trying to find the secret doors/passageways, though sometimes looking for them was frustrating (hence why I gave four stars instead of five). It would have been nice to have a handout with hints for finding them (my group only found about four doors). Also, the food and deserts smelled and looked REALLY yummy, but I didn’t try any; I suggest you try them out!

    — February 27, 2012
  63. Illusions Guest — Illusions Drinks, Drag, Dinner & Desserts

Drag show was fantastic. Had a lovely evening with my friends. Enjoyed touring the mansion before the show. Staff was very friendly. Great way to spend a Monday!

    — February 26, 2012
  65. Tour Guest — Self-Guided Tour

My mother and I had great time exploring the vast assortment of rooms–true eye candy and fascinating. Looking for the secret doors added a flair to the experience. Thanks for a great visit!

    — February 25, 2012
  66. Concert Guest — The Mastersons in Concert

Great venue! Very intimate. Touring the home was an excellent way to spend time before the show.

    — February 20, 2012
  67. Mary Kirshbaum — Dessert Tea

a truly enjoyable afternoon tea from start to finish. Beautiful setting, amazing dessert & cheese spread, good service (pleasant & helpful with guidance for our tour of the mansion) will visit again.

    — February 20, 2012
  68. Concert Guest — The Mastersons in Concert

This intimate setting is really the best place in Washington to see a show — it’s literally like sitting in someone’s (incredible ornate and beautiful) living room.

    — February 20, 2012
  69. Sharon Peyus — Fiesta Brunch

A unique and delightful idea for a “nationality” brunch! the food was, as always, superb. The atmosphere is exciting, and the service very promt, courtiess, and extremely helpful. it was a great break fro mthe traditional Sunday Brunch but still with the basic amenities of eggs (almost any way), waffles, and a variety of pastries, cakes, puddings, and flan! Anoher great shift consideration to not only satisfy the pallet but pleae the eyes as well!

    Thank you!

    — February 19, 2012
  70. V. Simoncini — The Mastersons in Concert

The entire experience at the Mansion was wonderful. We could have explored for hours, and the setting for the performance was perfect!

    — February 19, 2012

    — February 19, 2012
  72. Jennifer Ritter — Self-Guided Tour

We had a good time at the mansion today, it was an unexpected surprise! It was nice to feel like a kid again exploring the various rooms and trying to find the secret doors. The rooms were quite bizarre, but that added to the fun of exploring, you never knew what you would find next! Thank you for the fun day, we will be back!

    — February 19, 2012
  73. Tour Guest — Special Event Tour

I really enjoy this hidden gem of DC. Anything kooky and quirky is right up my ally. I loved all the themed rooms and the log cabin was my favorite!

I would definitely like to stay here as a guest some time!

Thanks for opening your doors for my tour!

    — February 19, 2012
  74. Dinner Guest — Valentine's Dinner

Ambiance and food last night was great as always. Service friendly and personable. There is not better place for any special evening especially on Valentine’s Day. This has become romantic favorite for my wife and I for the 6th year now. Thanks to everyone!

    — February 15, 2012
  75. Dinner Guest — Valentine's Dinner

Enjoyed our Valentine’s Day dinner and scavenger hunt. The staff were very pleasant, the food was good, and exploring the house was a lot of fun!

    — February 14, 2012
  76. Tracey Madigan — JD Souther Concert

This was my first trip to the Mansion, but definitely not my last.

It was introduced to me by a friend who is also a huge fan of JD Souther, so I got tickets for his Feb. 13 show.

As for the musical portion of the evening, I was blown away by the intimate venue. It felt like JD was singing among friends in his living room. And I guess, when you think about it … he was! Getting the opportunity to chat with the JD after the show was something I hadn’t expected. Everything felt very laid back. I wanted the evening to last forever.

Then I got to visit the rest of the Mansion. How had I never heard about this place?

Every single room, chock full of the most interesting pieces — it feels like the love child of a museum and a one-of-a-kind show! I could go on and on about the actual items, and their flare and their power to ignite all sorts of conversation, but what I also liked was the openness that reigned in the Mansion. I really did feel welcome there — you don’t get that feeling in many places.

I cannot stop talking about it now, which is probably how I found out that my friend had his bachelor party there 21 years ago, and how my other friend has had office Christmas parties there.

Thanks for all the work and love that goes into making your place what it is. It is my new dream destination.

    — February 14, 2012
  77. Jeff Dickerson — JD Souther Concert

Fantastic intimate setting and perhaps the perfect venue for select talent. Looking around during the show, it reminded me of an old time night club. The chandeliers in the concert room were really nice and added something special to the experience.

    — February 14, 2012
  78. Fritzi Alwin — JD Souther Concert

    Great show as usual!!

    — February 14, 2012
  79. Bill Cusmano — JD Souther Concert

Aside from everything else that is said about the Mansion and it’s wonders, from the silly to the sublime, I always am reminded that it is a home — the owners live there, some of the spaces are let to long-term residents, and it is a second home to an astounding roster of poets and troubadours. You can’t buy that feeling. That kind of hospitality goes far beyond the thread-counts of the sheets.

    — February 14, 2012
  80. Rashid Zaman — Music Tour of the Month

Scintillating experience, extraordinary ambiance and an amazing host. Leave the ordinary behind, O Street is way above the normal. Allow at least 2 hours to explore the mysterious maze, artifacts and musical masterpieces.

    — February 14, 2012
  81. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

We really enjoyed it! The mansion makes a perfect date night activity! Thanks!

    — February 14, 2012
  82. Bill Freedman — JD Souther Concert

What a terrific evening. The place was remarkable to explore, the staff was attentive and courteous, and, of course, the performance was intimate and absolutely remarkable.
    I’ll be back!

Thank you so much, Ted, for sharing the Beatles, Queen, and Bruce Springsteen last night with us in the music room. We enjoyed our time at the mansion very much and will be sure to tell our friends about what a fantastic time we had.

  96. Barbara R. Hoover — Self-Guided Tour

This was our third visit to the Mansion and, I am sure, we’ll be back again. Each visit has been a different and wonderful experience for us as well as friends to whom we have introduced it. What makes it even more special is the fact that it was home to my husband for nine months when he moved to Washington in 1961 for his first job. What an experience to wander the halls fifty years later and be part of history in the makings!

    — January 29, 2012
  97. K. Collins — Dallas Wayne — SRO Concert

Dallas Wayne did a great concert. It was really nice to get to hear him up close in an intimate setting. This was our first time at the mansion and we loved it. What an interesting museum. The staff were very friendly also.

    — January 29, 2012
  98. Dave Hopkins — Champagne Tour

Having been to the mansion before I had predisposed feelings about the place. I have to say that those feelings were reinforced with last nights Champagne Tour.

The mansion is a wonderfully eclectic and elegant facility, filled with fantastic kitsch and memorabilia from past & present eras. It screams DC to me, and I just love it. I’ve been coming here for over 18 years, and like any fine vintage, it’s getting better with age.

The staff is friendly, so very courteous, and simply loves the place; and that shows. When hanging around you feel very warm and welcomed.

I would love to see or hear some more of the history of the facility, the story behind its inception, the original owners of the 5 houses, the legend of the sisters and more. Placards placed around like historical landmarks in a park may be one way.

The only other thing I can think of at the moment is the primary signage for things like “This is not a secret door” and “Guests are staying in this room, please don’t open the door”. I would love to see these done in a more eccentric way, something more fitting to the house and her character. Try this. Take a brown paper shopping bag, cut it about the same size as a sheet of printer paper. Using a script or Olde English font, print the sign verbiage on to that paper. Then, tear and burn the edges of the paper to give it that aged look. Use a lighter to burn the edges, and an iron to tint the paper it self. Onion paper also works very well for this and is available at most craft shops.

No matter what, please keep doing what you are doing, I just love coming here.

  99. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

My favorite rooms were the log cabin, John Lennon, and country. I plan to return for tea and a scavnger hunt with my grandchildren! Beautiful! Oh, and I mention the wine cellar? Cool!

    — January 26, 2012
  100. Whitney Soenksen — Champagne Tour

My friend Jess and I loved the Mansion! It was experiential and fun… with all the ‘hands off’ activities in Washington it was awesome being able to touch and actually laugh out loud. I’d definitely come again. What a gem!

    — January 24, 2012

The girls had a ball at the birthday party. They were delighted to explore, listen to fun music and enjoy delicious desserts with their friends.

    — January 23, 2012

The self-guided tour was great as are the people at the mansion.

    — January 22, 2012
  105. Jayne Miller — Self-Guided Tour

This was the perfect activity for entertaining a friend from out of town. It’s the sort of hidden gem that makes you feel like a real DC native for knowing about and exploring. We definitely wanted to know about the passageways and rooms that we missed on our exploration, so it would have been nice to have a map with a few of the big ones marked – definitely not all of them, because that takes away some of the excitement of finding one on your own. But at least a few to enjoy while we were making our way through.

    — January 22, 2012
  106. Kate Hornyan — Champagne Tour

I had a wonderful time at the Mansion! Having lived in DC for just about 7 years, I had always known about the Mansion but never took the time to stop in. It is a wonderfully fun way to spend an afternoon with a friend and I look forward to coming back with more friends and to try to find more hidden doors! Definitely fun for all ages.

    — January 22, 2012
  107. Holly Sapp — Treasure Hunt Tour

I had my daughter’s 12th birthday party at The Mansion. We decided to do a scavenger hunt and numerology. We were not disappointed. The Mansion is like no other place. Unique in every way. With all the secret doors and hidden stairwells, it’s a GREAT place to spend an afternoon. Eclectic collections of guitars, art, vintage hats, purses, books, albums, you name it, it’s here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the only rooms off limits are the ones that have guests. It was really a treat and I look forward to our next visit, which will include a meal.

Thank you so much for everything!

    — January 21, 2012
  108. Tour Guest — Self-Guided Tour

The house was astounding. i plan on coming back just to be there and relax. The vibe of the house is very comforting to me. I enjoyed playing pool in the billiard room the most!
The band was lovely, just nice people overall :) They let me play the potato :) I enjoyed the butler/assistant who greeted us and spoke with us for a while, I cant quite remember his name. He had long brown hair. Thanks for a great Sunday.

    — January 20, 2012
  109. Hugh Huettner — Champagne Tour

My husband and I did the champagne tour and didn’t know what to expect. It was so much fun. Nothing like it anywhere else. The champagne may have kicked my enjoyment up a notch, making me go with the flow- which is definitely something you have to do in the mansion. It’s strange in a very good way, like one of those “Clue” movies, where guests get lost in the big, old house with secret doors everywhere. The eclectic assortment of do-dads, books, clothes, accessories, furniture and art of every kind made exploring so much more fun. I found a warthog tusk, a beautiful, hand knitted shawl (only $20!), a great $10 purse and an impossible-to-find record I’ve been looking for years. It was like a treasure hunt. The assortment of things wasn’t dusty or mildewy and it didn’t smell like moth balls or “old”…and it wasn’t set up like a store, it was just like a really interesting person’s overstuffed house and you got free-range to look through closets and drawers and everything else…how cool is that?! The fanciful hats are high-dollar fashion, and for sale (at like $100-$200 a pop for some) but you’re welcome to try them on. I’ll definitely be bringing my friends. Fun afternoon! We took about 2 hours to soak it in.

    — January 19, 2012
  110. Christine Wells — Private Rehearsal

    — January 15, 2012
  117. Deborah Waggoner — Champagne Tour

Wish I had checked this place out sooner – such a fun place to bring those who visit me in DC! The only thing I would suggest is maybe giving a few more hints as to where some of the secret doors are. We only found 3 or 4 and that seemed to be what most others found as well…Overall, a must-do if you enjoy something out of the ordinary.

    — January 14, 2012
  118. Tour Guest — Champagne Tour

    Staff very pleasant and helpful

    — January 14, 2012

It was fun and exciting and unusual! Yes, I will come back again and also tell my friends about it. So many things to look at and talk about and share but I only found 4 hidden doors. Oh well, maybe next time I’ll be luckier.

The O street mansion is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the city. It was such an amazing experience and I felt like Alice in wonderland. recommended to all – tourists and locals alike. It is a must see place. My personal favorite is the log cabin suite…truly authentic and unique!

  131. Megan Burkhart — New Year's Day Brunch

we loved the mansion!! it was a perfect + very fun way to ring in the new year. i had two very hungry guys in tow and they enjoyed the abundance of delicious foods + fun tour of the mansion – - even better, we didn’t have to wait for any of it, since we made the reservation online! the only thing that could have been improved was the crepe/omelet station – i heard some grumblings about waiting a long time. but for me, the coffee was delicious, there were plenty of healthy items to choose from, and i happily enjoyed a sliver of delicious tiramisu at the end of the meal. thank you!!

    — January 1, 2012
  132. Party Guest — New Year's Eve Party

I thought the New Year’s Eve Party was very excellent. Beyond the obvious appeal of being at the Mansion in general and the fun of exploring the place, it was so nice to be at a party that wasn’t crowded. I find the bar menu to have a wide range of great options and the service was excellent. The DJ played a nice variety and was very attentive to requests. My only constructive criticism would be to maybe have a coat check rather than having people hang their own coats, as I could see how that could get confusing at the end of the evening. Other than that, everything was great, and I would highly recommend this or any other event at the Mansion to my friends.

I purchased vouchers through Living Social as gifts for out of town guests. They loved it and totally enjoyed the different rooms and being able to buy various items. My wife and I have a tradition of dining at The Mansion on O Street during Christmas or New Year’s. We are extremely pleased with the service, food, and atmosphere at The Mansion. The staff are always professional and courteous and The Mansion is always clean and really a vibrant place to relax and have fun.

Most importantly, the owners of The Mansion are down to Earth, wonderful hardworking people who exemplify the American dream of hard work, success, and goodwill to society. We give The Mansion on O Street a two-thumbs up with our strongest endorsement.

We had a great time and they loved doing something different while in DC!

This was a fun-filled fantastic evening, we spent exploring a time-line through history. Trudging through the piles of treasures left by prior visitors was like exploring a tomb- we wore hats, acted out pieces of peoples’ lives and learned about a significant part of DC!

We were not expecting such a fun experience. The feeling of love and giving back permeates the website, personnel and decorating. We’re looking forward to donating and to returning soon.

We knew absolutely nothing about the Mansion, but were given a gift certificate to try it out. It was amazing. The atmosphere was inviting and cordial. The food was out of this world. Thank you for your kind hospitality this afternoon in allowing me to show an out of town guest the splendor of the Mansion. It gives me great pleasure to see the faces of people light up in awe when they see for themselves what I have never heard anyone be able to describe in ways that capture the spectacle of it all.

  187. Tea Guest — Sunday Afternoon Dessert Tea

The Sunday tea was lovvely with delicious paries and cakes. Very friendly service also. The Mansion of course is amazing. Truly enjoyed it, thank you.

  188. Tea Guest — Sunday High-Tea

It was truly a relaxing experience and the variety of music was great and also contributed to the relaxing atomosphere.

We truly appreciated the variety of cheeses, sandwiches, and desserts. They were all just delightful. Also, we really appreciate the accommodation you made for us regarding the sandwiches. You can tell the chef that I added the apple/cheese selection to the beef (with one bread) and it was scrumptious. He might want to try it. The champagne was good, too.

So, as you can see, we really had a delightful afternoon. To the chef and Dan, we extend many, many kudos.

    — November 3, 2011
  189. Brunch Guest — Sunday Champagne Brunch

The food is always delicious, the service was wonderful, and the staff even recognized me and called me by name when I came in! After brunch we went to the jam session, and it was more fun than I could have imagined. We will definitely be coming back for more!

  191. Concert Goer — Mia Dyson w/Hotels & Highways SRO

Wonderful evening! I was very impressed with the performance by Hotels and Highways/Mia Dyson – great music by a group of musicians who obviously enjoy their work and just as obviously enjoy working with each other and who, moreover, easily established a great rapport with the audience. And I loved the intimacy of the venue – it made for a very special evening. Outstanding!

  195. Anna Schultz — Sunday Tea

I treated my sister to a birthday tea at the Mansion yesterday. It was my second time there and I found it as enjoyable and whimsical as the first time I went last year. After the tea we rooted around the wonderful cacophany of rooms and I found some great baskets to use in an upcoming fundraising event. Thank you for a fun-filled afternoon and I look forward to returning again soon.

A group of five of us went on the self guided champagne tour. We had a lot of fun wandering through the mansion. We enjoyed trying to find the secret passages. Our favorite one led to the wine cellar off the kitchen.

We would definitely recommend it to someone who’s looking for something unique to do in DC.

  204. C. Jones — Self-Guided Tour

Our friends from Florence Italy were delighted with their visit to the mansion. We spent 2 hours trying to find secret doors and only found 4! The 12 yr old’s sheer joy could hardly be contained as he ran around frantically searching. His father was amazed at the collection of beautiful things. At times he was shaking his head, but he was smiling for the entire 2 hours. It was a great beginning of their trip to America. A complete blast for all of us.

  206. J. Cox — Self-Guided Tour

The museum is great. One could spend hours looking through the museum if one wanted to do so.

    — October 10, 2011
  207. Mansion Guest — High Tea

Touring the house was delightful–a surprise at every turn! We were thrilled to discover eight of the secret doors. It was a perfect location for our bridal shower. Hillary invited us to to select from among the fancy hats and wear them for the High Tea, which made for a sweet photo to remember our event.

The food was exquisite and so beautifully presented–very filling and plentiful.

Shopping was fun as well–we did not expect tings to be so affordable. Although we were not in the market, the furniture (plus delivery included) items were a bargain–high quality and well-priced.

Valet parking is the only way to roll at this site.

    — October 10, 2011
  208. K. Gelsey — Living Social Tour

My friend and I spent a full two hours at the Mansion and enjoyed checking out every detail! Being a music lover, I especially appreciated the Rock n Roll memorabiliia–most impressive was the great John Lennon collection! Special experience–THANK YOU!

    — October 10, 2011
  211. Mansion Guest — Living Social Tour

This was sooo much fun! The perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, wandering around an old house looking for secrets. I felt like a kid again exploring hidden doors. There are so many rooms to see, I was never bored or wanted to rush through the tour. The wine cellar was my favorite & what I wouldn’t give for a sample of the selection!

My only complaint with the tour was not being able to see the parts of the mansion that were reserved for a private party. I guess that means I’ll just have to go back :)

    — October 10, 2011
  212. B-J Thompson Powell — Sunday Champagne Brunch

As usual, my guest–this time, La’Tonya (niece with whom I celebrated her birthday)–and I had a delightful time at O Mansion! We so…o love the quiet dignity, humility, and, projected spirituality of the Owner-Manager who, present for brunch, was so kind in personally greeting and graciously welcoming us into her home! Everything was par excellent! We really appreciate the consistent quality of the OMansion experience. I find myself renewed with each visit. My niece, a first-timer at the OMansion, commented, that, despite all of the myriad of things, she felt a pervasive sense of peace and tranquility; some might find that paradoxical but I find it “just right”. It’s great bringing someone who’s never enjoyed the OMansion milieu to its brunch because, for me, it results in a vicarious repetition of aspects of my own maiden voyage there. In this instance, my niece-ingénue was enthralled by OMansion and her fervor triggered a fresh perspective and reaction from me.

    — October 10, 2011
  213. Marie Soveroski — Sunday Breakfast

What can I say? It’s always an incredible pleasure to come to the Mansion, particularly when I am bringing a newbie (someone who hasn’t been before). The food was great, the atmosphere wonderful, and the place itself is, as you know, magical…

  227. Carol Wyman — Living Social Tour

The O Street Mansion is one of my favorite places in DC — eclectic, interesting and friendly. My elementary school aged kids had a great time finding and opening the secret doors and designing their dream bathrooms.

The music lovers in our tour group loved all the signed guitars and the joining in the jam session in the music room.

  228. Rick Lore — SRO - Chip Duncan & Salman Ahmad

  229. Pallen — SRO - Chip Duncan & Salman Ahmad

Not knowing what to expect, I was pleased with the seriousness and intensity of Duncan’s mission, the luminosity of his eminently humane photography, the sad charm of the ruined castle, and Salman’s humor.

  230. Mansion Guest — Living Social Tour

Very very cool adventure. All the rooms were interestingly decorated and really made it fun. Some of the secret doors were so secret we couldn’t find them which means we will be going back! Highly recommend.

  231. Eowana Jordan — tea, brunch, holiday meals

I have been to THE Mansion several times: for tea, brunch, Christmas and Thanksgiving! It is the most unique place in Washington, D.C. and probably the entire east coast! Do not miss touring the upstairs rooms after your meal. Delightful, clever, charming, fun, yummy and more! I keep my wonderful black velvet hat with the curved feather I bought at the O on display in the guest bedroom. Oh, don’t worry about parking, they have valet service. My dream is to go and spend the night. Maybe for my birthday? Oh, oh, O!

    — August 19, 2011
  232. This was my very first stop while visiting Washington DC! I had the most wonderful afternoon exploring every nook and cranny of this unbelievable house/museum. I was greeted warmly and whisked through a series of mazes that enabled me to forget about the outside world and “check out” from the craziness of life in exchange for the craziness of this house. What a fun experience! I was encouraged several times to sit down, relax, kick my shoes off and read a book (which there were thousands of scattered all throughout the house!)

I signed up for a scavenger hunt, but honestly I was busier “scavenging” through all the items, shopping, to really pay that much attention to what was on my sheet. Lol. After finding my way through several secret passageways, I would forget what floor I was even on! I made several trips down to the first floor where my pile of items to be purchased was being amassed on a couch. When they say everything is for sell, they mean EVERYTHING! I opened closets, armoires, trunks, desks, etc and “H” politely sold me anything I wanted (sometimes asking me where in the world I had found it!)

All in all I ended up buying several old, obscure, and delightful books, a family board game from the 70′s, CDs I hadn’t seen in decades, several pieces of china, a lazy Susan, a beautiful handcarved sandstone nightlight, and several other items I couldn’t live without. The only thing that makes me happier than finding great treasures is knowing that all the proceeds go back to charity.

I spent 6 hours exploring all that the mansion on the o had to offer for a mere $20 donation. That was the best $20 I spent my entire time in DC. I will definitely be coming back very soon, and bringing my friends with me! Thank you “H”

The mansion is the most romantic place for my husband and me.   The Mansion’s creativity, mystery,  passion and music has beckoned our souls since we first stumbled into it’s heavy front doors.  On 7.7.7., my lucky day, Scott surprised me with a weekend in the city.  We checked into the mansion, took a walk around the hot city, and after 7 years of being in love, he asked me to marry him.   Oh happy day!  The mansion had congratulations and our check in cards (the future mr. & mrs. …..) waiting for us and popped open a bottle of champagne to celebrate.  The next day we awoke to fifteen of our best friends waiting downstairs at brunch to celebrate!  We ate, drank and danced merrily!  It was the happiest day of my life…until our wedding day.  Thank you mansion!

  256. Thank you for an incredible event last Sunday with Starlight Children’s Foundation MidAtlantic.

The event wasn’t just a party; it was a cherished family memory. It meant that Sophie’s dad could play pool for 15 minutes, knowing that the joy of his life is safe and happy and forgetting that she was ever sick with Neruoblastoma, it meant that Quinn, who has Spina Bifida and Vocal Cord Paralysis could help the musicians keep their beat with the maracas, it meant that families could share a happy day together.

Between the incredibly accommodating staff, delicious breakfast, exciting treasure hunt, and wonderful musicians, the Mansion on O Street was instrumental in helping our families take a break from their stress of child’s illness. Thank you again for hosting Treasures and Treats at the Mansion on O Street Great Escape. The real treasure was giving the children a day to just be kids and the families a chance to enjoy it.

  257. Farrah Pasdar — Breakfast and Treasure Hunt

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! For giving the children and families of Starlight MidAtlantic a morning to remember! Your hospitality and generosity were so very much appreciated, and gave these families an experience they will never forget. Thank you for brightening their day :)

  259. The first time I have every been or new about the Mansion on O street was Sunday. I’m a volunteer with Starlight Mid Atlantic. I was touched by the staff, and place was out standing. Everyone went out of there way to make sure the Kid’s and their families enjoyed every detail of the mansion for that I thank you. I was not able to go around to see everything you had to offer but from what the kid’s and their parents said, you out did yourself. What really got be was the fact that owners of the mansion went out their way to help and do anything that was ask, as if they were part of the staff now that in my book means the WORLD to me. Thanks again for making your home our home, what I wonderful feeling. ( I hope to get the chance to see it all through my own eyes.)

  264. I stayed here with co-workers for a whole week. The Mansion has been the greatest lodging experience that I have had and I travel over 30 weeks a year. The rooms are so cool and the staff is, well, so cool. Let’s just say, that I am bringing my new bride here to share the fun. We hope to make The Mansion one of those “Special” places. Hopefully sincerity makes up for a lack of creativity.

  265. Starlight Children’s Foundation MidAtlantic is thrilled to be returning to the Mansion on O Street! Starlight MidAtlantic is a nonprofit that brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families through entertainment, education, and family activities. The children we serve have life-altering illnesses that keep them in the hospital anywhere from 5 visits to 260 days each year. Helping children heal through laughter, Starlight MidAtlantic creates fun in the hospital and in the community.

Every month, Starlight MidAtlantic has a Great Escape™, a fun-filled family outing. In May, Starlight MidAtlantic is returning to the Mansion on O Street for a Treasures and Treats on O Street Great Escape! Seriously ill children, their siblings, and parents alike can’t wait for this wondrous event!

  267. Debbie Payton — hotel reservation

What a fabulous, warm, inviting and magical place. I found the Mansion almost by accident, I was googling for a unique place to stay in Washington DC and stumbled upon the Mansion. What a lucky find! The Mansion is not a place to stay, it’s a place to experience. I was in town for work and stayed at the Mansion for my first time – wow! The people were so incredibly welcoming. Ted and staff went out of their way to make me feel “at home.” I was there for almost two weeks and my family came and stayed with me over the weekend. It’s unanimous, our family has never stayed anyplace quite so magical. The “kids” (ages 24, 21 and 19 – so not really kids any more) were in love with exploring – finding new rooms around every corner, testing out the guitars, playing the grand piano, looking at all the diverse artwork and reading all the fascinating framed pictures and letters. We have found a place in Washington DC that we hope to come back to again and again.

We were able to enjoy mothers day brunch. Again – wow! So much fun to sample so many different kinds of food. Breakfast could easily turn into almost an all day affair!

    Thank you for the experience.

  269. B-j Thompson Powell — Grandson's 14th Birthday

It was Djani’s 14th birthday and the breakfast celebration with my grandson and his Dad went off swimmingly; the repartee, in combination with wonderful food was delightful. I did have some initial speculation as to whether the planned “treasure hunt” would, in fact, be one that would be a hit with “all ages”, especially since my grandson who reminded me, he was “…no longer a child…”, once or twice was enamoured with video games whose sophistication had been proven to exceed my skill set. Nevertheless, we launched into the hunt: Everybody loved it! So much so that I ended up being the “voice of reason”–along with a bit of urging from my near stiletto-height heels–and convinced all in our small company of 3 that 1PM was a suitable time to graciously depart the mansion in order to give others quarter and access to space that we had occupied since the first stragglers for breakfast had appeared. My suggestion received reluctant acquiescence: Clearly, we loved the Mansion experience and will return! [P.S. I was the one who kept insisting that the secret door locations not be given away to inquiring newcomers; after all, half the fun was their discovery!]

Everything worked out wonderfully today. Our guests got married not quite a year ago, this was our wedding present to them and they loved it. They also gained some weight, sadly so did we, but that usually happens when we visit.

  283. Tom Wilhelm — stay and private dinner

The Bob Dylan guitar in the Garden Room is famously cool. But the bathroom with its own secret staircase and phone-booth shower is no less a marvel. And all this with the private dinner: well, it was the best stay in DC ever.

  298. Dan Pouliot — Martini

this weekend I was watching this video of a guy talking about how the universe is all one mind. And he was saying once you become aware of this you can tap int to it. As an example, in his line of work he identifies people in other industries he would like to connect with. So on a regular basis he goes out to bars with the intention that these people are there. Over and over they show up, and strike up a conversation, and so the connection happens.

This reminded me of the mansion… one of these vital places where important connections happen.

  299. Just a story about my birthday weekend.

    January 30, 2011

I woke up on my birthday with a tear in my eye as I thought of how much I miss my Mom and Dad. I planned to go to the O St. Mansion by myself to have a birthday breakfast. My phone rang and it was my friend Jill who announced that she was taking me to the O St. Mansion for breakfast. Her call really made my spirits soar. I picked her up and we arrived exactly one minute before my ETA after finding a perfect parking space just a half block from the Mansion. I’m always lucky when it comes to finding a parking space.
As we entered the Mansion, H (the owner saw me and put out her arms asking…”Do I get a hug?”) I gave her a big hug and introduced her to my friend, Jill. I then told her it was my real birthday. She wished me a happy birthday and we were escorted to our table. We went to the breakfast chef and ordered our omelets. When we returned to our table, we were treated royally with coffee and constant attention.
Then the Maitre D came over to our table and extended an invitation from H to spend the rest of the day at the Mansion and to be treated to brunch compliments of H. I was so touched. Jill explained that we had to pick up her daughter at noon so we could not stay. When we were leaving, I thanked H for the invitation and she told me to take Jill home and come back by myself. She assured me that she would have me well taken care of for the rest of my birthday. I thanked her and we went off to pick up Christine and take her and her Mom home. I immediately returned to the Mansion. When I arrived, everyone said, “Welcome back, your new table is ready”.
I proceeded to take some nice filet mignon and asparagus and sip champagne. The staff came over to my table constantly to ask if I needed anything and they were so kind. One gal announced that H was sending me home with a whole cake in honor of my birthday. I was so surprised and happy. However, knowing H like I do, I really was not all that shocked. I feel a connection with H that I cannot explain. It happened the instant we first met. It is a fine thread with the tinsel strength of steel. When I go into the Mansion I feel like I’m getting a big hug. It’s like going home. I just feel happy there.
    Here’s a little history…
She once offered to have my Mom as her guest at the Mansion so I could go on a trip to China with my Chinese sister. She is a most amazing and kind-hearted person. Shortly after that, I was planning to take my Mom to the Mansion for her birthday, which was going to be on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. Sadly, Mom died on April 3rd and never got to go to enjoy the room full of cakes at the Mansion. When I went to tell H that we would not be making the birthday celebration, she asked what she could do for me to help me. I told her a sheet cake with the words to the Beatles’ song, “I will always love you” on it would be swell. H smiled and said she would take care of it and I could pick it up the day before her funeral. So, the time came and I went to pick up the cake. It was a humongous, beautiful Tiramisu cake. It was so heavy, I could not carry it and her staff had to put it in my car. It filled up the whole back of my Outback. It filled all the guests that day and added a bit of sweetness to that bittersweet day.
    Back to yesterday…
So, I wandered around the Mansion and found a little group sitting in a room playing instruments and singing. I joined them and thoroughly enjoyed their music. I wandered back down to my table and another Maitre D asked if I had picked out my birthday present. I explained that I did not think I should get a present. After all, H treated me to brunch and was even giving me a gorgeous cake that looked like it should be displaying diamond engagement rings in Tiffany’s window on Fifth Ave. in New York. He told me that nothing trumped my choosing a birthday gift so I had better walk around again and choose something. So, I chose two small-mirrored plateaus that could be used in my table-scapes. By the time I was ready to depart it was after 4pm.
I stopped to see friends on my way home. My neighbor was calling me to remind me to come to her home at 6:30 pm. I spend nearly every evening with her family so it was not unusual for her to invite me in. When I got home it was 5:30pm. Rosanna called and said she would like to give me a manicure for my birthday. So, I gathered my things and went over. Her home was pristine and quiet and looked all tidied up for the night. Roberto put on one of my favorite songs and danced with me. Then he played Stevie Wonder singing “You Are The Sunshine of My Life”. I could just feel the love of my Dad, as he would have been playing that on the piano for me every time I came into the room. I did not think a thing of it as Rosanna did my nails and I told her about the fun I had the night before with my “grands” and then, about the day at the Mansion.
Thank you one and all for a superb birthday.

I was at the Mansion on O Christmas Day for a dinner with the East Carolina University football team. I just wanted to say what an amazing experience this was! I am one of the team managers and my other co-workers as well as myself absolutely loved this experience! We had never heard of The Mansion, nor been to anything like this before. We had to rush through the house in order to catch our next scheduled tour events with the team, but we wished we had a lot more time to tour this beautiful place! I just wanted to say thanks for having us there for the dinner and this was definately a great place to experience. I hope to go back in the future and have the chance to tour again. Thanks so much!

  318. James Fontenot — New Year's Eve

Our first experience at the Mansion was interesting, unique, and enjoyable, so we were excited to bring a few friends to your New Year’s Eve party. However, the experience fell short of the charm that the Mansion can offer. The evening was not well choreographed, the music was unsuitable, and the champagne choice could have been a lot better. We are hoping these comments will improve a place we would like to revisit.

We stayed at the Mansion in Country as as surprise for my husbands 55th birthday – he turned 55 and was born in 1955 ! It was our first visit and we will never forget this one of a kind experience. From our entrance and tour with Hillary, to the helpful gentleman named “Ted” who pointed us to the wine cellar, the waiter who found me at the buffet table with my empty drink glass in hand asking if I needed another…it was delightful. We will return to the mansion as guests again. Thank you.

  368. This internship gives me a lot something which I will never get at home. I think I did get some understanding about customer after one month.

Last week I went to Georgetown for shopping. I experienced a nice customer reward. People are the same. We all have feelings. If you treat someone well, they will make a lot things easier for you.

    1. Competitions are everywhere. In certain scenario, people compete unconsciously. Otherwise, it is really easy to be out of business, or just hold back a lot.

    2. Reality is tough. It is really lucky to have nice parents. Money and respect are not free. The other day I watched Ted moved these plates with us together in a SUIT. I think it is very impressive. I should be that kind of people who can dress well in a business meeting and sweat like a gorilla picking up the fruit on the tree.

    3. I am not sure what I am going to do back home. But I will remember not to complain when other people complain about something. Because negative attitude pass through a person faster than positive attitude. And eventually make myself feel stupid and make my situation ugly.

    4. USA is great. A lot of products are designed very good and specific to use. I love to go to the Home Depot.

    5. I think I am going to make my children do something to earn for his or her pocket money in the future.

  377. In these internship days, the most important thing what I learn is that I have to try to solve the problems by myself.

Before the internship in Mansion, I admit that I have a degree of dependency on both life and work. I was accustomed to get help from other people but not by myself. However, during the internship here, the most biggest change of myself is that I learn to solve the problems by myself and become more and more confident. I really feel that I am growing up.

As I see it, I have learned how to give mature consideration to all aspects of a question and how to make things perfect by my own ideas.

Moreover, I realize that communication and carefulness are two of the most critical elements in hospitality industry by the daily work. I need to hold a good relationship with my managers and fellows to take a better teamwork to provide better service for the guests.. Also, the good communication with guests can help me to deliver my service directly, correctly and quickly. The more satisfaction guests get, the more happniess I get.

In other hand, carefulness is one of the most important decisive factor of quality of service. So I always remind myself that to try to do the services slowly and carefully in the work.

As an intership management trainee of Mansion, I need more observatioin and creativity. According to my observation of the operation of hotel rooms and F&B, I have to provide some fresh and actual perceptions. Everday we need to write the daily report, which includes pending, actioned, perceptions and so on. According to write the report everday, I have got a custom that to review what I did today, think about what else should I do next day and try to put forward the questions or ideas about the daily work daringly. It’s really a good process of studying and improving.

Although I met many kinds of difficulties in the work, I never give up and believe that these challenges will teach me something special. I try my best to adjust my states of mind to adapt to the jobs better. And it’s really thankful that I really got some helps and encourages from my managers and fellows.

In conclusion, the internship experience is impressive for me. It improves my personal ability of communication, observation and operation. It’s meaningful. And I believe that these outcomes will bring me a brighter career future.

  408. Kitt — Brunch

The Mansion was the perfect hotel for our reunion! You can’t help but have a great time here! We loved buying the stuff all around us; and the sensational brunch topped it all off. Thanks for making it a sensational reunion for us!!

I agree with another writer here, you must experience staying here before you die. And sooner, rather than later, since you’ll want to return annually. (Go on, live it up! )

  409. Dr. Anne Deaton

Whimsical, delightful to the eye and spirit- and this is my second visit to The Mansion- the effect is equally charming-which is good because I brought friends!

  410. Blaine Griffin

I stayed in the log cabin room. I have been all over the world (Europe, Israel, etc.). This is by far the most unique, dynamic and opulent lodging experience I have ever had. Thank you.

  411. Carol

The magic again enveloped me and never left. It is with me still. Thank you, thank you!

We loved the Lennon room and were so glad that it was one of our options, though truly? It wouldn’t have mattered then, and it won’t matter the next time, what rooms were/are available, because each is a unique adventure in itself, and that, too, is part of the magic. Thank you!

I don’t think I know of any other place where the answer to any request is always “Yes.” Not “Yes, but.” Just “Yes.” Every single person at the Mansion was kind and helpful and friendly…and effortless. Not studied. Not rehearsed. Just genuinely kind and wonderful.

I had the best time sitting ensconced by the window on the sofa in the room with all the chandeliers, listening to the music and reading my New Yorker, and then later taking a stroll to DuPont Circle to people-watch.

So, could i just come and live there for a while? ;-)

    Thank you, again!

All of you made Hannah’s Bat Mitzvah party wonderful – everything was perfect. The food, as usual, was excellent, but it is the little and big things you all do to make sure we have a special day that makes the Mansion such a wonderful place. We greatly appreciate all your efforts, your thoughtfulness, creativeness, care and hard work in making Hannah’s Bat Mitzvah party such a wonderful occasion.

I’ve decided the Mansion will be my “glass slipper”. I figure the man who gets it … me… and enjoys the mansion as I do — from the architectural details and treasures, to the added treasures of art, books, nick-knacks, guitars, luxurious and fun touches, surprises and stimulating yet relaxing style… in addition to the culinary experience will “fit” my glass slipper… So i will be coming down for many day trip and weekends from Rhode Island in the hunt!

  434. Mary Gilbert — Christmas Eve Lunch

On Christmas Eve, we had a grand time visiting your beautiful home and magical emporium with our family. Our two daughters and grandson had never been there, so I was rather apprehensive about their reactions…As you might well imagine, your unique establishment won them over. They thought your viands were delicious and amazingly abundant and, in addition, they thoroughly enjoyed exploring many of the enticing nooks and crannies of the Mansion.

I came by with my mom today for razzle dazzle and just wanted to say, what a wonderful and magical place you have. I really loved walking through the home and it was such a delight for the senses. I only wish there were more places in the world such as this. When I got home, I went on your website again to find out more and just continued to be inspired. Thanks so much for being real and showing others how it’s done.

I want to thank you for the opportunity to enjoy brunch. I would never be able to explain the O Street Mansion to my family if I hadn’t, One of a kind doesn’t begin and/or do it justice. The Amnesia Room is my favorite. I get it!

Last Monday was a magical, enchanting day. I woke up knowing something special was going to happen. Since then I have been trying to describe my afternoon at The Mansion and the only other words I can come up with, which are not adequate, are warm and whimsical. Thank you for sharing your divine inspiration and showing us what was behind some of the hidden doors. Hope to return soon!

I attended your wonderful Cinco de Mayo event last night. Your place gorgeous, the dishes tasty and the staff wonderful. Please thank your staff for me – one was thoughtful to remember that I was a vegetarian and brought over the poppers when they were ready. (Thank you!)

Jim was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the Community Health Accreditation Program and he attended his first Board meeting on Tuesday. The organization was having a dinner on Wednesday night to honor and say farewell to both a long time Board member and a long time staffer. It was to be held at The Mansion on O Street formerly, The O Street Mansion and before that H.H. Leonards…. the very place we got married! When he told them that, they told him to bring me.

Without telling me where it was, except for “some hotel” on O Street, he told me that I was invited and asked if I wanted to go. I said, sure, why not….I met him at his office at 5:45, we took a taxi over…I didn’t exactly hear the address he gave the driver, but when the taxi turned the corner onto the street and asked what address we were looking for again, Jim said, 2020…and the dawn struck!! “Hey,” I said, “isn’t that where we got MARRIED!” “Why YES,” he said, laughing his little trickster laugh.

It was very nice and exciting. We hadn’t been back at all since the wedding in 1983 and it was only one house then. Now it is five interconnecting houses and very interesting to explore. They had a fabulous bar and both of the young women make excellent and very large cosmos…I know because I had two! Then, after we were all seated but before we ate dinner, H. H. herself talked a little about the place and asked if there were any questions. I told her we had gotten married there almost 25 years ago! And she gave us a coupon for a complimentary champagne Sunday brunch for two….I think we’ll use it on May 27, which is the Sunday before our anniverary on the 29th. And maybe we’ll have a party back there for our 25th anniversary next year. It’s certainly a beautiful and fun place and the food is fabulous!
