The Mansion on O Street
The O Street Museum Foundation is dedicated to serving cultural, scientific and educational needs, with a focus on the creative process. The Museum promotes and embraces life, from every culture, resulting in a wide-ranging collection of paintings, photographs, sculpture, books, artifacts, and music— all of which we're proud to share with our guests. We believe that creative expression through all forms of art and scientific discovery is the definition of hope, and believe strongly in freedom of expression. Please note, however, that some of the items on display may offend certain people's sensibilities. Our intent is clearly not to exhibit questionable works of art or insult the integrity of our guests, but to preserve history and enlighten people to learn from the past, to uplift the human spirit, to where all are equal.

Woof! The O Street Museum Foundation is home to numerous traveling art exhibits. The museum also offers the unique option to lease art and antiques from our extensive inventory. For clients whose primary emphasis is investment art, our portfolio allows that option— as well as the opportunity to install rotating public space exhibitions, organized by our trained curatorial specialists.

Gerald Johnson   galleryBullet.gif View Gallery

Imagine 25 pieces of fine art, spanning the last 25 years of music, art, history and yes, mystery in our Nation's Capital.  That is what you will be treated to in the Museum Exhibit Hall of The Mansion.

Gerald Johnson's art can be found in the National Gallery of Art, The White House, and the Treasury Department, as well as over one hundred corporate collections in America, Europe and China.  He has recently been commissioned by the Boston Red Sox to complete a series of art for their 2004 World Series victory.

When approached to create a series of collages celebrating the Mansion's Silver Anniversary, Gerald wrote "I accept without hesitation.  The Mansion has been a part of my life for close to 20 years.  It has provided me with great opportunity, challenged my creativity and championed my art.  Every artist's dream is to find a receptive audience for their work.  Twenty years ago, carrying 10 tiny collages into this mysterious house on O Street I found that audience; always saying "Do what is in your heart."  It is because of H's vision and unwavering support that I proudly present these latest works."

Alexandra Vrassivanopoulou Vitalis Roussis

Alexandra was born in Messochonion of Euboia, on The Island of Greece, 82 years ago. She studied at the University of Athens and Innsbruck University, in Austria, specializing in Chemistry, medicine and biochemistry. The training was supplemented with studies in Paris.

World War II changed her chosen mission, and Alexandra Vitalis began to focus on healing the body through a more spiritual path. Adding to her knowledge of traditional science and medicine, she studied homeopathy in Greece under the most famous homeopath of our times, George Vithulkas.

Sometime later Ms. Vitalis was moved to create paintings that celebrate life and heal the soul. Her first works of art were abstract paintings in oil and watercolor. Eventually, she was inspired to travel to India to work with Mother Theres. Throughout this journey, she acquired a magnificent collection of beads. Then, one day, she had a dream to create the works in this collection. With the voice of an angel signing in five languages, she dedicated her life's work to the children of the world.
